Making the most of your annual leave requires planning. By strategically booking days around bank holidays and weekends, you can create longer breaks without using as many leave days. For example, taking 4 days off around a bank holiday weekend gives you 9 consecutive days off.
All UK workers are entitled to a minimum of 5.6 weeks of paid annual leave per year. For a full-time worker on a 5-day week, this equates to 28 days. Your employer can choose to include the 8 bank holidays within this entitlement or offer them on top. Many employers offer more than the statutory minimum as a contractual benefit, with 25 days plus bank holidays being a common package.
