Understanding Your ISA Results

This calculator helps you understand the benefits of a Help to Buy or Lifetime ISA. The Government Bonus is a 25% top-up on your savings, which can significantly boost your deposit. The Total Savings Pot shows the combined total of your contributions and the government bonus, giving you a clear picture of your buying power.

The Time to Reach 5% Deposit is an estimate of how long it will take to save for a minimum deposit on your target property. This can help you plan your savings journey. For more detailed mortgage planning, try our main mortgage calculator.

Help to Buy vs Lifetime ISA

The Help to Buy ISA is now closed to new applicants, but if you already have one, you can continue saving until November 2029. The Lifetime ISA (LISA) is the current alternative, available to those aged 18-39. While both offer a 25% bonus, the LISA allows you to save more each year (£4,000 vs £2,400 in the first year and £1,200 thereafter for HTB), leading to a larger potential bonus. Our savings comparison calculator can help you compare different savings accounts.

Official Rules and Regulations

It is important to be aware of the rules for each scheme. For instance, there are limits on the value of the property you can purchase. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, always refer to the official government guidance. You can find detailed information on the GOV.UK website.
