Understanding the Trixie Bet

A Trixie is a popular type of bet in the UK, particularly for horse racing and football. It involves picking three different selections and placing four separate bets on them. This structure provides a good balance of risk and potential reward, as you do not need all your selections to win to get a return.

The four bets are: three doubles (on pairs of selections) and one treble (on all three selections). To receive a payout, at least two of your three selections must be successful. If only one or none win, the entire bet is lost. The more selections that win, the higher your return will be. Check out our Accumulator Calculator for a different betting strategy.

Trixie vs. Patent: What is the Difference?

A Patent bet also uses three selections, but it includes seven bets instead of four. The key difference is the addition of three single bets in a Patent. This means you only need one winner to get a return, making it less risky than a Trixie, where you need at least two winners. This makes the Trixie a slightly riskier but potentially more rewarding option if you are confident in at least two of your picks.

The Trixie is a great option for punters who are confident about two or more of their selections and want to cover their bases without the higher stake of a Yankee or other complex bets. This Calculator Site tool helps you instantly see the potential outcomes.
